Description
We are recruiting a Residential Care Assistant for a public sector client in Lancashire. The role involves providing personal care, emotional support, and assistance with daily activities to older people and people with dementia who need long-term residential care.
Responsibility
The post holder will give personal care to service users in a residential setting and provide a comfortable but stimulating living environment following dignity of care principles.
Qualification – Essential
- GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- City & Guilds in practical or home nursing.
- NVQ Level 2 in Direct Care or commitment to study to achieve the qualification.
- Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Social Media.
Essential - Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Capable of moving, lifting, and handling heavy objects and awareness of manual handling good practice.
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills.
- Experience working in a care setting.
- Understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems
- Knowledge of First Aid.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Awareness of Health and Safety requirements.
- Knowledge of the cultures and religions of the local community; ability to work across cultures.
- Understanding of basic care tasks, i.e. bathing, toileting, feeding.
- Ability to liaise with other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work without close supervision.
- Ability to demonstrate the capability to gain relevant certificates of competence or equivalent where applicable.
- Experience or the ability to demonstrate the competence to do the job.
Essential Compliance Requirements
- Five Years of References.
- Enhanced CRB/DBS Within Last 12 Months
- A pre-engagement screening is mandatory for this role.
